About the festival

MOSCOW STATE INSTITUTE OF CULTURE ANNOUNCES THE XX INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF STUDENT FILMS AND CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY “GOLDEN FIVE” ON MAY 22-24, 2019.

FROM THE HISTORY

Back in 1995, the Department of Film and Photography held the first public screening of students' coursework and diploma works. Over the years, the level of excellence in student work has steadily increased. And talents in the field of audiovisual arts needed a presentation platform and a wider audience.

In 1999, the “Golden Five” started. The first festivals were intra-cathedral. Since 2013, the “Golden Five” received All-Russian status, and since 2014, International.

In 2017, 23 countries of the world took part in the festival: Spain, Germany, Czech Republic, Serbia, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Nepal, Syria, Brazil, South Korea, USA and 11 neighboring countries.

According to tradition, every year at the creative venues of the festival, young authors present their vision of the world and its reflection in audiovisual art in the field of cinema and art photography, which, in turn, helps the professional development of young talents.
The Golden Five festival is a powerful educational platform where students personally communicate with outstanding figures in film and photography.

The official organizers of the festival today are the Department of Cinematic Arts and the Department of Photography of the Faculty of Media Communications and Audiovisual Arts of the Moscow State Institute of Culture. But the real driving force of the festival are the students of both departments. It is they who, year after year, find many ways to express themselves: they think through the future concept of the competition, form new approaches to its holding, and prepare performances for the opening and closing of the festival. There is no time to be bored: attracting other creative universities of culture, cinema and television, creating creative teams, inviting speakers - all this falls on the young shoulders of the newly minted organizers, for whom the exchange of experience between generations is an integral part of the festival. Since 2018, the audience coverage has been expanded - children are our future, and what they become depends on everyone. Therefore, the festival program includes the nomination “Cinema by Children”, without age restrictions.
