The main idea of chapter 1 is scarlet sails. Analysis of “Scarlet Sails” Green. Work test

Nowadays, the girl Assol has become a household name. It is associated with romance, openness, true, real feelings. This name and belief in love are considered synonymous concepts. Using the characterization of Assol from the work “Scarlet Sails” by Alexander Greene, we explore the characteristics of the heroine of this wonderful book. "Scarlet Sails" is an extravaganza story with the most romantic heroine of Russian literature of the 20th century. Any modern reader will be interested in learning more about the heroine’s appearance, her character traits, upbringing, and fate. Some girls can take note of the actions and behavior of a dreamy beauty.

Before characterizing Assol ("Scarlet Sails" by A. Green), it is worth introducing you to the main plot lines. From the extravaganza we learn the story of the girl Assol, who lost her mother at the age of 8 months. Together with her father, sailor Longren, she lives in the village of Kaperna. Her father was unsociable and reserved; he made and sold toys in the form of sailboats and steamships. This is how he earned a living for himself and his little daughter.

When Assol was 8 years old, the song collector Egle gave her a small sailboat and said that someday a prince would come for her on a ship with scarlet sails and take her to a distant country. Since then, she had a dream about an overseas prince. Because of this, everyone considered the girl crazy.

On the other hand, the author shows us Gray. He was the scion of a noble and wealthy family, had a living soul, and strived for exploits. One day he went fishing by boat and stopped for the night near Kaperna. In the morning, in the thickets, he came across a sleeping Assol. He really liked this extraordinary girl.

Being a little “out of this world,” Gray goes to the shop to buy scarlet silk and make sails from it. Gray on his sailboat sailed to the shore where Assol was, and music was playing on the ship. All the villagers ran to the sea. Gray swam up to the girl in a boat and took her with him, as the storyteller had predicted.

The charm of the heroine

At the beginning of the extravaganza, the writer shows Assol as an eight-month-old baby, left without a mother, who was looked after by a kind old neighbor for three months while her father was swimming. At the end of the story we see a seventeen-year-old girl whose dream came true after meeting Gray.

At the age of five, Assol was distinguished by a kind, nervous face, which her father really liked. At 12 years old, she was a thin, tanned girl. She had thick dark hair, expressive eyes, a small mouth with a gentle smile. The girl was so pure and expressive that she was compared to a swallow in flight.

At the age of 17, all her features were amazingly attractive: dark brown, short in stature. Her long eyelashes cast shadows on her cheeks, and anyone passing by tried to take in her delicate contours.

Assol's characterization proves that she was charming at any age (despite her poor and cheap clothes). Assol was even noticed in such outfits. Green uses a very subtle detail to describe the girl - a scarf, under which the girl’s thick locks and her gaze are hidden.

In Kaperna they did not really admire the appearance of the charming modest woman; the inhabitants were frightened by her wildness and intelligence hiding in her deep dark eyes. This is not at all the girl from the market with rough hands and loose speech.

Assol's childhood years

The girl's father was a sailor. Assol quickly learned everything, helped her parent, obeyed, showed kindness and affection. The girl suffered because of the attitude of other children, whose parents frightened her with her evil father and called him a murderer. Assol cried a lot, was offended, and then began to play by herself and not pay attention to anyone.

The young heroine lived in her dreams and fantasies. Her world was completely different from the real one. The girl continued to love life and enjoy it. She especially loved the nature around her and treated with kindness the person in the village who understood her - the coal miner Philip. The heroine’s kind soul never accumulated resentment and anger (unlike other inhabitants of Kaperna). Smart and hardworking Assol truly knew how to dream and never despaired. Over time, she began going to the city to put her father’s handicrafts up for sale. Although her childhood was spent in poverty, it was filled with love.

Character traits of the heroine

The girl's character developed in solitude. When she was bored, she went to her only friend - nature. Out of melancholy, she turned into a timid and suffering girl, only occasionally her face would come to life. But the heroine found a deep soul that subtly felt everything around. She lends a helping hand to anyone she meets. Her most important character traits are:

  1. Very economical. Knows how to sew, cook, clean, and save money.
  2. Individual personality. Others, however, call her touched or crazy.
  3. Loves nature. All living things were her true friend: trees, birds, the sea.
  4. An educated girl. She read a lot of books and worried about their characters.

A dream comes true

Throughout her childhood and adolescence, Assol carried a fairy tale about a ship with red sails, which was told to her by the storyteller Egl. The girl believes in her and does not give up on her dream. Often she looked at the sea and looked out at the treasured ship in the depths of the sea. And one day her dream came true! Gray appeared in her life. The book ends so optimistically that you want to believe in the joyful future life of the young beauty.

The main idea of the work

The “Scarlet Sails” extravaganza is a beautiful example of a dream that comes true thanks to the faith and hope of the charming Assol. Green teaches people to believe in dreams and miracles. Life is completely empty without cherished dreams. You need to strive for them, then they will definitely come true. You need to go boldly towards your future!

Comparative characteristics of Assol and Gray

Assol was the daughter of a poor toy maker, a former sailor. Gray was born into a wealthy family and was given an excellent education and upbringing. He experienced love and respect from childhood. Mother and father tried to give the boy the best. The girl had a difficult childhood, all the children refused to be friends with her, her only friends were her father and God. She addressed him with requests very often and talked to him. The heroine did not receive an education, but she read a lot of books.

Gray had a good inheritance, thanks to which he could not work. But he persists, studies maritime affairs and runs away from home. Assol's father makes toys and fishes. This is how they live, barely making ends meet.

What Assol and Gray have in common is that they were both romantics and dreamers. Gray makes his dreams of the sea come true himself, and Assol lives in a world of dreams and fairy tales. The young man became an excellent captain, and the girl waited for her prince on a ship with scarlet sails. Both heroes are honest and decent, they believe in love.

In addition to romance and determination, Gray has nobility, courage and determination. He became a kind wizard for the dreamy Assol. The girl charmed the young man with her pure and sincere beauty. Having given Assol a dream, Gray himself became bright and sincere. He simply and truly performed a miracle on another person.

The image of Assol in cinema and art

Imbued with the spirit of the romantic times, "Scarlet Sails" is liked by our contemporaries. The story is reminiscent of a very good fairy tale. In 1961, director Alexander Ptushko made the film "Scarlet Sails". The role of Assol in the fairy tale film was played by the magnificent Anastasia Vertinskaya, and the role of Gray by the famous Vasily Lanovoy. You can see some shots from this wonderful film in the photo.

Many theaters have staged dozens of productions and musical performances based on the Scarlet Sails extravaganza. Composers also did not stand aside and composed many songs on this topic. Contemporaries especially like the song by Tatyana Snezhina, the rock group "Marshal", and Alexey Sviridov - "Assol". Many people know the musical of the same name by Maxim Dunaevsky. Monuments have also been erected to the main character in several Russian cities: Kirov, Gelendzhik, Khanty-Mansiysk, Cherepovets.

2. Introductory speech by the teacher. (Biography of A. Green in pictures. Presentation for the lesson).

Today we continue to work on A. Green’s work “Scarlet Sails”. The author created a book about a dream that transforms the lives of two people, about a fairy tale that has become life. During the lesson, we will summarize what we have read, talk about the amazing heroes of the work, and follow them on the path to realizing their dreams. A. Green himself called his work an extravaganza (a magical fairy-tale spectacle). Let's think and answer the question: “What is a dream? Does a person need a dream?”

3. Vocabulary work. (On the desks is S.I. Ozhegov’s dictionary)

Remember what word Greene associates with the concept "dream"? (Dream - Fairy Tale - Miracle).

What do these concepts have in common? Which of these words do you think is unambiguous and why? (Miracle)

Dream

1. Something created by the imagination, mentally imagined.

2. The object of desires, aspirations.

Fairy tale

1. A narrative based on fiction, mainly involving magical, fantastic forces.

2. Same as a miracle.

A miracle is something astounding, surprising in its extraordinaryness.

Which of these words is closest to you and why?

Anatole France once said: “ Dreams give the world interest and meaning. Dreams, if they are consistent and reasonable, become even more beautiful when they create the real world in their own image and likeness.”

How can one comment on the words of the French writer if they are transferred to A. Green’s work “Scarlet Sails?”

Indeed, dreams are the most valuable thing a person has; they light a fire in his soul. Dreams make a person perform miracles.

4. Conversation based on the story(work on the perception of the work).

1. What is unusual about the story?

2. What mood are you in?

3. What impression does it leave after reading?

Assignment: distribute excerpts from the extravaganza “Scarlet Sails” in sequential order (work in groups), explain your choice.

The groups are given sheets of paper with printed extracts from different parts of the passage.

4. What does the color scarlet mean to you? (Color of dreams, miracles, love). Three main themes are revealed in the story: pure and bright love, a dream come true, a miracle come true)

Teacher's word:

The scarlet color of the sails, carrying on their wings the realization of a dream, is a symbol of the reflection of the spiritual world of Assol and Gray. Let's discover this world for ourselves and walk the path to dreams and happiness that the heroes of the story Assol and Gray took. Green's "Scarlet Sails" personifies the magical power of human dreams. To sail in life under a scarlet sail means to set high goals for yourself, to dream, to strive to fulfill your plans.

5. Verbal portrait of heroes according to imagination. (Work on options)

Why were Longren and Assol not liked in Kapern?

What was Assol like for the residents of Kaperna? (Different, strange, not like them, but even these people felt that she was better than them.)

Why couldn’t Assol play with her peers?

Who helped Assol not to become embittered against people, to remain a good girl? (Longren, her father, is a big and strong man. He taught her how to love, he told her peculiar fantastic stories about life and people, so her head was full of wonderful dreams. She lived more in a dream world.)

How did Assol grow up? (She grew up reading fairy tales, walking through the forest, along the seashore, making friends with animals and birds, with trees.)

How did Longren treat her? (He loved her. But the people from Kaperna did not know how to love.)

What do you think love is?

Does Assol know how to love? (Yes. She feels sorry for people. She loves all living things on earth. In the forest she “felt at home; she greeted the trees as if they were people, that is, shaking their wide leaves...” “I’m coming, brothers, I’m in a hurry, let me go, I recognize you all, remember and honor you all...”)

How did people in Kaperna react to this fairy tale?

If you found yourself in this crowd, how would you react? (Would have protected)

In the story there is a hero who wants to protect the weak and defenseless. This is Gray. Remember the actions of the little count, which speak of him as a knight, a defender of the weak: 1) he covered up the wounds of Christ in the picture with paint; 2) in order to survive the suffering of others, he deliberately scalded his hand; 3) gave money to Betsy on behalf of Robin Hood.

How are the fates of Assol and Gray similar? (Loneliness. Dream. Strangeness, difference. Desire for miracles. Expectation of a miracle. Thirst for adventure. Love of nature. Kindness and selflessness.)

The dream of a miracle and the expectation of love are the main things in the character of both heroes.

Did they meet by chance in life? (Both by chance and not by chance. They were looking for each other - two kindred spirits.)

Fate itself brought them together. Remember Gray’s anxious feeling on the eve of his first meeting with Assol in the evening and his joyful awakening in the morning: “With amazement he saw the happy sparkle of the morning, the cliff of the shore among the bright branches and the flaming blue distance...”

What did Assol experience the night before the meeting? (“There was no sleep, as if she had not fallen asleep at all. A feeling of novelty, joy and the desire to do something warmed her... Suddenly something like a distant call shook her inside and outside, and she seemed to wake up once again from obvious reality to what is clearer and more certain. From that moment on, the jubilant wealth of consciousness did not leave her.”)

How did she see the scarlet sails? Read this passage. (“She shuddered,

This speaks of the kinship of their souls. Why didn’t Assol tell anyone about the ring? (Taught by the bitter experience of life... I was afraid to scare away happiness...)

How did she see the scarlet sails? Read this passage. (“She shuddered, leaned back, froze; then she jumped up sharply, with her heart falling dizzily, breaking into uncontrollable tears of inspired shock.”)

How did people in Kaperna react to the appearance of scarlet sails? (With anxiety, angry fear; “stunned women sobbed like a snake hiss”)

So, Assol found her happiness. What helped her achieve her dream? (Sincerity, openness, sincerity, dreaminess, kindness...)

6. Watch the video. (Fragment of the film “Scarlet Sails”)

1. Watch a video clip in which old man Egl prophesied the fate of Assol. What fate did old man Egle predict for Assol? Why does Egle give Assol her fairy tale? (“Involuntary expectation of beauty” Egle saw in the girl’s face)

2. What especially stands out in Assol’s description? (“Dark eyes, tinged with a sad question”, “serious eyes, cheerful, shone with confidence”)

3. Why did Assol believe in this fairy tale? (“A dangerous wizard, of course, would not talk like that.”)

7. Analysis of the poems by N. Matveeva “Prediction of Egle”, S. Narovchatov “Scarlet Sails” by N. Varley “Assol”.

(After answering, the student reads the poem by heart Novels by Matveeva “Aigle’s Prediction” .)

Come to me, I see drops of tears in your eyes.
There is a lot of evil in the world, but you don’t have to take everything seriously.
Don't trust the earth, callous and dry, trust the wave of the seas.
Let it slide, tease and threaten - there is more truth in it.

The years will pass in quick succession, like water in a stream.
You see that cliff and the expanse of the sea - look there.
There, in the distance of the sea, you will see the shine of scarlet sails.
From the steep banks exactly at five o'clock you will see them.

This will be a brig from distant countries, from other latitudes.
Exactly at five o'clock the boat will depart from its sides,
And the handsome prince, the fairy-tale hero, your betrothed,
Cheerful and smart, slim and tall, he will step on the sand.

Listen, he will only come to save you.
If he doesn’t find you right away, forgive him!
Steps onto the sand - the joy on his face is as strong as pain -
He will say: “Good afternoon!” He will ask: “Where does Assol live here?”

Don't be sad, don't cry. Don’t hide your clear eyes, wipe away the tears from them.
Believe my words, look at the sea more often in the morning.
Trust the wave of the seas. Believe in your destiny. Your time will come.
You will see the shine of scarlet sails - it’s behind you.

In 1984, at the Central Children's Theater in Moscow, N. Matveeva's play “Egle's Prediction” was staged - a fantasy based on the works of Alexander Green, containing 33 songs by Novella Nikolaevna.

Teacher's word:

- “Scarlet Sails” by Green can be confidently classified as a “modern classic”, because this work, like Arthur Gray’s ship under scarlet sails, triumphantly passed through all the storms of the events of the last century and retained the love and interest of readers, almost 100 years after it was written .

At this stage of the lesson we will try to unite all those who have ever been inspired by A.S. Green’s fairy tale. Wonderful love poem Narovchatov Sergei , which leaves an indelible mark on the soul and heart of people in love. (The reading of the poem is accompanied by the music of E. Grieg, we take a fragment of “Morning” from the first suite to the drama “Peer Gynt”, at first the music sounds quietly, then the volume gradually increases)

Scarlet Sails

I tell my daughter and I with fairy tales
Every day the evening dawn:
I braid the horses' manes in the stalls,
I give rings to red girls.

And from the feathers of a caught firebird
My fingers are burning,
And the star in the forehead of the Tsar Maiden
Shines at night brighter than the light of day.

But my daughter looks straight into my eyes:
- Tell me the story again,
A fairy tale that once you and mom
They fell in love in their youth.

Oh, how I don’t like these requests!...
Still, I have to tell you. Please,
So. Once upon a time there lived
A girl named Assol.

She was a strange girl -
She only directed her gaze to the sea,
Taking every boat
For the crimson-sailed frigate.

The dress is a patch on a patch.
But the insolent mouth was stubbornly clenched;
"The captain will arrive on a frigate,
And he’ll take me with him!”

How difficult life was for this girl,
Life was easier even for Cinderella!
But what a deep dream!
And in dreams there is both joy and anger.

Anger towards friends, towards petty neighbors,
For whom a fairy tale is just a deception,
Who says: "He will never come
Your great captain."

Envy didn’t even need an answer!..
The wind brought sea salt,
And, having inhaled it, at dawn
Assol ran ashore.

The sea kissed her feet,
And she, easily running into the surf,
She even drowned out the cry of the seagulls,
And the helmsman heard her.

The splashes of the waves wet her skirt,
The morning fog was cold...
But the boat was already rushing towards,
And the captain stood on the boat.

He only asked Assol her name,
And then, blinding my eyes,
The cursed tale is upon them
Scarlet sails fluttered!

This is how I entertain my daughter at night...
Let them talk about us with a smile,
What remains of the sails are shreds
And a frigate ran into the stones.

And on these shreds there are only holes,
Yes, and those, they say, were carved by moths,
What are rugs for an apartment?
Assol threw them at her feet.

What, they say, the captain is now retired,
His path is not really, but at random...
Daughter! We will make our own amendments:
People are telling lies!

The daughter answers: - What’s the point!
We will disperse them in half an hour.
I can do it myself without a needle,
Sew such sails again,

That the ship will immediately run aground,
Will fly into the blue sea...-
If only we wanted to together
Remember this fairy tale in reality!

Natalya Varley , a Soviet and Russian theater and film actress, was also inspired by A. Green’s work “Scarlet Sails”, she wrote the poem “Assol”. That's what she said N.Varley about myself: “We actors are terrible bores. No matter how an actor’s fate turns out, we will always find an excuse to complain about it. I starred in 61 films, all the roles are very different. But after “Prisoner of the Caucasus” I was treated like a circus performer for a very long time. This role was a barrier that prevented many directors, and most importantly, the audience from seeing me as an actress of a different type. In real life people began to associate me with Nina, although I am not at all like my “captive” ”, by nature I am more of a lyricist, a kind of romantic Assol. But I’ve gotten used to the name Nina, I’m proud and I’m not offended. When I was 9 years old, I read “Scarlet Sails” by Alexander Greene and forever fell in love with this author, the book and its characters. Green proved that there is nothing more important in the world than the “life of the heart,” the human soul; that selflessness, honesty, kindness, love endow a person with a powerful, all-conquering force of moral perfection. After few years I watched the film “Scarlet Sails” by Alexander Ptushko. And the image of Assol was forever united in my mind with the image created by the most charming Anastasia Vertinskaya. And another one meeting with Assol is a pastel reproduction of a portrait work by Yuri Masyutin.

The artist depicted a tanned woman girl With hair bleached by the southern sun and the not childishly serious look of big blue eyes. What is in this “sparkle of fresh eyes”: sadness, thoughtfulness, dreaminess? Her adolescent soul is filled with trust in people and the world. Her feelings are light, like cirrus clouds that, rising high in the sky, never portend storms and bad weather. Everything, good and bad, lies ahead in her life. In the meantime, the girl captivates with the naive charm of childhood and faith in the feasibility of dreams. She is Assol by state of mind. Always close to Green’s “eyes and soul” were his favorite Crimean cities - Feodosia, Gurzuf, Sevastopol. After all, in the end, it is not so important where a person was born - in Vyatka or Saratov. It is much more important that he has a place on the vast... earth with which he is connected by a special spiritual kinship, to which he feels a constant attraction.”

Listen to him, please.. (Reads by heart by a student prepared in advance)

Assol

Life passes like a dream, like pain.
Dreams give up and grow old.
And the aged Assol
He leaves without waiting for Gray.

Just a glimpse of scarlet sails
It seems like a bitter tear,
When broken pride
Will answer the call again.

And again she will run into the wave,
With outstretched mournful arms,
The inevitable hour of separation
As if trying to push away...

A moment of happiness will spin you around,
Will make you believe patiently...
While the dry reality of the ebb
The bottom will not reveal hope...

And, deceived by the silence,
The mirage creaking of masts and oars,
Saying goodbye to the sea and to myself,
She goes into the night - without springs.

What do Assol’s portrait, extravaganza, poetry, and Grieg’s music have in common? (They are united by faith in dreams, love, miracles, friendship).

To be able to dream is a wonderful spiritual quality, and to be able to turn a dream into reality is the greatest human talent.

Let’s read the key lines of the story: “...I understood one simple truth. It is about doing so-called miracles with your own hands. When the main thing for a person is to receive the dearest nickel, it is easy to give this nickel, but when the soul conceals the seed of a fiery plant - a miracle, give him this miracle, if you are able. He and you will have a new soul... But there are no less miracles: a smile, fun, forgiveness and - the right word spoken at the right time. To own this is to own everything.”

Here's what the famous guy said Russian writer Daniil Granin : “When the days begin to gather dust and the colors fade, I take Green. I open it on any page. This is how the windows in the house are cleaned in the spring. Everything becomes light, bright, everything again mysteriously excites, as in childhood.”

Let the scarlet sails remain a symbol of a dream come true for you forever.

“Scarlet Sails” by A. Green should be read by those who are true to their dreams and by those who believe that dreams do not come true and that dreaming is useless. The work captivates with its unusual images and magical plot. They study it in the 6th grade, but many readers return to it as adults to once again find themselves in the world of kindness and fairy tales. We offer an analysis of the work that will help during preparation for the lesson. The analysis presents the most important points of the literary analysis according to the plan.

Brief Analysis

Year of writing - 1916 - 1920.

History of creation- The idea for the work appeared in 1916. While walking along the streets of St. Petersburg, A. Green noticed a toy ship with white sails in the window of one of the stores. Thus, images of the future work began to be created in his imagination. The writer completed work on it in 1920, and published it as a separate book in 1923.

Subject- Several main themes can be identified in the work - a dream come true; the fate of people “not like everyone else”; choice of life path.

Composition- Formally, the work consists of seven chapters, each of which tells about an important event. Plot elements are arranged in the correct sequence. Non-story elements - landscapes, portraits - play an important role.

Genre- The story is an extravaganza.

Direction- Neo-romanticism, symbolism.

History of creation

The story of the creation of the story is unusual. A. Green wrote down how her idea came about in the drafts for the novel “Running on the Waves” (1925). Once, during one of his walks around St. Petersburg, the writer stopped at a store window. There he saw a toy boat with white sails. Images and events began to appear in his imagination. The writer thought it would be nice to turn the white sails into scarlet ones. “...Because in scarlet there is a bright glee. Rejoicing means knowing why you rejoice.”

The work lasted for 4 years. However, researchers claim that the year the story was written is 1920. Then the author completed the preliminary work, but still made changes to the work for some time.

In May 1922, the chapter “Gray” was published on the pages of the Evening Telegraph newspaper. “Scarlet Sails” was published as a separate book in 1923.

Subject

The analyzed story is an unusual phenomenon for Russian literature of the first half of the twentieth century, because at that time revolutionary themes were actively developing. Themes“Scarlet Sails” is a cherished dream; the fate of people “not like everyone else”; choice of life path.

The work begins with a story about the father of the main character, Longren. The man is disliked in the village because he calmly watched as his fellow villager Menners was carried away into the open sea. It turned out that Menners' greed caused the death of Longren's wife. The widower was forced to raise his daughter himself. The villagers did not remember Longren’s grief, but they pitied Menners.

Longren was hated in the village, and his daughter Assol was also disliked. The girl was considered crazy, so she believed in her fantasies and waited for the prince who would come for her on a ship with scarlet sails. Assol silently endured insults and never responded to them with anger, but the main thing is that she did not give up her dream.

In the following chapters, other heroes appear, among whom Arthur Gray attracts attention. This is a guy from a noble, rich family. He is very purposeful and courageous. He and Assol are brought together by their belief in miracles. Once Gray saw a painting by a marine painter and became eager to become a sailor. Thanks to his perseverance, intelligence and lively soul, the guy became a captain at the age of 20.

His ship drifted to the shores of the village where Assol lived. Gray accidentally noticed the sleeping girl. After asking about her, I learned about her eccentricities. Gray decided to make Assol's dream come true. He ordered scarlet sails for his ship and sailed to the village. The girl’s dream became a reality, and at the same time, the prediction about the extraordinary wine that Gray was supposed to find came true.

The plot centers not only on the images of Gray and Assol, but also on the symbolic image of scarlet sails. Their symbolic meaning is hidden meaning of the story's title. Sails are a symbol of dreams, hope, and the scarlet color in this work is interpreted as joy, jubilation, the victory of good over evil.

The plot helps determine idea. A. Green shows that dreams come true, the main thing is to believe in them.

Main thought: the opinions of others are often wrong, you need to live as your heart tells you. Keeping a bright dream despite the circumstances is what the writer teaches.

Composition

In “Scarlet Sails” the analysis should be continued by characterizing the composition. Formally, the work consists of seven chapters, each of which tells about an important event that helps to understand the essence of the main problem. Plot elements are arranged in the correct sequence.

The exposition of the story is an introduction to Assol’s father and the main character herself. The plot is a stranger's prediction about a meeting with a prince. The development of events is a story about Assol's dreams, Gray's story. Climax - Gray listens to stories about the “crazy” Assol. Denouement - Gray takes Assol on his ship. Non-story elements - landscapes, portraits - play an important role.

The peculiarity of the composition is that each chapter of the work is relatively complete, pushing to certain conclusions.

Genre

The genre of the work is an extravaganza story. The fact that this is a story is evidenced by the following features: several plot lines are revealed, the system of images is quite branched, and the volume is quite large. Signs of an extravaganza: magical events, unusual, somewhat fabulous images, victory of good over evil.

In A. Green's story "Scarlet Sails" there are signs of two directions - neo-romanticism (the main characters feel different from everyone else), symbolism (images-symbols play an important role in realizing the ideological sound). Genre originality, system of images and plot determined the nature of artistic means. Paths help bring the work closer to fairy tales.

Rating analysis

Average rating: 4.4. Total ratings received: 1404.

The heroes of the story “Scarlet” by Yuri Iosifovich Koval are undoubtedly an example. I read many works about animals (“Kashtanka” by A. Chekhov, “Barbos and Zhulka” by A. Kuprin, “My Mars” by I. Shmelev, “Friend Tobik” by K. Paustovsky, “Jack” by G. Skrebitsky), but this particular one I like the story more than others.

At the center of the story is a story about Koshkin’s service on the border and a dog named Scarlet. The author first shows the characters, as if laughing good-naturedly: he gives the new border guard a “cat” surname and says that Koshkin does not like dogs because they bite him.

Koshkin got Scarlet when he was a puppy. It is interesting that Y. Koval portrays the dog as a person: Scarlet knows how to think, reason, sometimes the writer seems to deliberately mix up the thoughts of Scarlet and Koshkin: “Koshkin began to think: “What should we call this loafer? The letter “A” means... Watermelon?.. Not good. Cucumber? No, wait, cucumber starts with the letter “O”...” “Scarlet didn’t answer anything, but thought slyly to himself: “Am I a dunce, or what?” Run after the stick! Throw me a bone." “Scarlet didn’t receive any parcels from anywhere, but he thought so...”

The hero began to train the dog: he taught Scarlet to catch border violators, to carry out commands: “Koshkin began to teach Scarlet. And the senior instructor taught Koshkin how to teach Scarlet.” We see that Koshkin’s role in the dog’s training process is very small. Scarlet is not only trainable, but, like Koshkin, independently and consciously learns the skills of the border service.

It was interesting and funny to read about how Koshkin trained Scarlet, because the dog was lazy. Despite this, the border guard persistently and patiently worked with her and never hit her. Koshkin believed that beating dogs was the last thing. Gradually, mutual understanding begins between Koshkin and Scarlet, but not only: “Soon Scarlet grew up and began to obey Koshkin very well, because he fell in love with Koshkin.” And even Koshkin, who did not like dogs, “loved Scarlet very much.”

Scarlet and Koshkin helped each other out more than once. The outpost commander often sent “friends” to secretly ensure that no one crossed the border.

But one day, Scarlet’s heroic life was tragically cut short when he detained a border violator: “Scarlet spread out on the ground - and jumped, as if waving his whole body. He stopped, froze in the air for a second - collapsed on the enemy. Hit him in the back. He pulled. He fell, but twisted his arm back and shot at Scarlet - once, twice, three times. Scarlet tore out the pistol, and the metal seemed to crack in his teeth, like black bone.” You might think that we are talking about human actions - this is how Yu. Koval describes Scarlet’s mortal battle with the enemy.

Scarlet is not just a border dog, he has become a true friend for his owner. If Koshkin does not believe in Scarlet’s death and does not immediately realize that the dog is dead, then Scarlet understands that he is dying, and at the same time he feels sorry not for himself, but for Koshkin: “I feel sorry for you, Koshkin...” - Scarlet thought, but didn’t managed to figure out why he feels sorry for Koshkin. Scarlet shuddered twice and died.” Not everyone will be able at the moment of death to think not about themselves, but about another, to feel sorry not for themselves, but for another. Only generous people with the talent to love are capable of this. The image of a dog, smart, generous, makes you think about how a person and an animal are very similar to each other - they are alive!

There is no happy ending in the story; probably, the writer is trying to convince us that there are tragedies in life too, they force a person to show his courage. A real, worthy person endures pain with fortitude.

Scarlet and Koshkin are an example for me and my peers, an example of real, true friendship between man and animal. This is an example of mutual assistance, courage, and love for the homeland.

Composition

I understood one simple truth. It is about doing so-called miracles with your own hands. A. Green The story “Scarlet Sails” by Alexander Stepanovich Green personifies a wonderful youthful dream that will certainly come true if you believe and wait. The writer himself lived a hard life. It is almost incomprehensible how this gloomy man, untainted, carried through his painful existence the gift of a powerful imagination, purity of feelings and a shy smile. The difficulties he experienced robbed the writer of his love for reality: it was too terrible and hopeless. He always tried to get away from her, believing that it was better to live with elusive dreams than with the “trash and rubbish” of every day. Having started writing, Greene created in his work heroes with strong and independent characters, cheerful and courageous, who inhabited a beautiful land full of flowering gardens, lush meadows and the endless sea. This fictitious “happy land”, not marked on any geographical map, should be that “paradise” where everyone living is happy, there is no hunger and disease, wars and misfortunes, and its inhabitants are engaged in creative work and creativity. In the story “Scarlet Sails,” Green develops his long-standing idea that people need faith in a fairy tale, it excites hearts, does not allow them to calm down, and makes them passionately desire such a romantic life. But miracles do not come by themselves; every person must cultivate a sense of beauty, the ability to understand the surrounding beauty, and actively intervene in life. The writer was convinced that if you take away a person’s ability to dream, then the most important need that gives rise to culture, art and the desire to fight for a wonderful future will disappear. Green dreamed of a “dazzling event” and joy, filled his works with these fantasies, but they manifested themselves especially clearly in the extravaganza “Scarlet Sails,” written in 1920-1921. Everything is unusual in this seemingly simple story. The story is built on an internal comparison of two heroes: Assol and Gray. The little dreamer Assol lives in a simple world among the toys created by her father Longren, and later she begins to create small miracles: Assol dreams of “making a trick so that (her) boat floats on the board itself, and the rowers row for real; then they land on the shore, give up the pier and honor with honor, as if alive, they sit on the shore to have a snack.” Isn’t this what any artist strives for, so that his creations would be “like alive” and would delight the hearts of people? Gray also finds himself in an unknown world, because he is stuffy and cramped in the family castle, where he is oppressed by the conventions of the world. The young man strives into the stormy elements of sea life and achieves his goal: “... Gray walked towards the goal with clenched teeth and a pale face. He endured restless work with a decisive effort of will, feeling that it was becoming easier and easier for him as the harsh ship broke into his body, and inability was replaced by habit.” The figurative language of the work helps the author create the magic of the narrative and reach the reader’s consciousness. Green's unexpected and fresh metaphors and epithets fascinate the reader, introducing him to the fantastic world created by the writer. “It was a full night; Overboard, in the sleep of black water, the stars and the lights of the mast lanterns were dozing. The air, warm as a cheek, smelled of the sea. Gray, raising his head, squinted at the golden coal of the star; instantly, through the mind-boggling miles, the fiery needle of a distant planet penetrated his pupils.” It would seem that a simple narrative takes readers into a beautiful fairy tale, but everyone understands that you just need to really want it to come true, strive for the intended goal, and work to bring it to life. Reading the story “Scarlet Sails” is always an encounter with beauty, the cultivation of spirituality, the discovery of an amazing world into which Alexander Green so easily and organically introduces readers. His work gradually reveals the soul of young heroes. Is this why modern youth love this romantic extravaganza? “Scarlet Sails” is a beautiful fairy tale, but also a real path to that magical land that every person needs.
