Toll roads in Poland. Where are the fares and where are they located? Roads in Poland, toll sections and highways What roads are toll in Poland

We can talk for a long time about the quality of roads in Poland - they are one of the best in the world, since there are no old roads here. Any defects are immediately repaired or remade. The total length of Polish roads is 3160 km. It will operate here until 2023 Government program on Construction of National Roads. The total cost of the work exceeds 26 billion zlotys. Those who will cross the Polish border should know that the designation “A” is for autobahns, “S” is for expressways.

Construction of a high-quality, perfectly level road with clear markings costs to the Polish state not cheap. Because of this, you have to pay to travel on some autobahns and expressways. When calculating the cost, it takes into account how much the driver traveled on the toll road and what type of transport he has.

Guests of the country and local residents can pay for travel on toll roads in several ways:

  • There are special checkpoints at the exit and entry points from the toll section of the highway where you can pay. There are special workers here who, after payment has been made, raise the barrier for further movement of the driver. You can pay for the service in Polish zlotys, dollars and euros. The ability to pay by credit card is not available everywhere.
  • Make the payment not through a cashier, but through special machines that are located at the entrance to the toll road. At the beginning of the autobahn, after issuing a ticket, the barrier rises automatically. At the end of the toll road, you must present a ticket and pay for using the road.

Rules for traveling on toll roads and highways may vary. Thus, for vehicles weighing less than 3.5 tons, the fare will be calculated based on 0.10 PLN per kilometer. Today only A4, A2, A1 are considered toll highways in Poland. On most toll sections, you pay at the end of the route, but there are some where you will need to pay part of the amount at the beginning and part at the end.

Toll roads in Poland and the cost of travel on them

Toll highways in Poland A1, A2, A4 are intended for the movement of passenger cars and motorcycles. You can recognize a toll road by the corresponding road sign – Pobor opłat.

Polish Autobahn A1

The total length is 568 km. The route is located in the direction from north to south (from Gdansk to the border with the Czech Republic in the south). You can pay for use not only in cash, but also by credit card. There are 12 toll road sections along the route. Depending on the distance to be covered, the cost will range from 3.5 to 29.90 zlotys. Read more about tariffs.

Polish Autobahn A2

The route runs from the town of Swiecko (near the German border) to the Polish-Belarusian border in the east. Length – 657 km. If you drive across the entire autobahn, you will need to pay 60 zlotys. The sections Warsaw - Strikow, Minsk Mazowiecki, Poznan (West - East), Rzepin - Świecko are free. The section Rzepin - Nowy Tomysl will cost 18 zlotys, 17 zlotys for travel along Wrzeshnya - Konin, Poznan East - Wrzeshnya, Nowy Tomysl - Poznan West. 9.90 zlotys must be paid for travel along Konin - Strikow.

You can calculate the exact cost of traveling on the autobahn using a special calculator on the A2 autobahn website.

Polish Autobahn A4

It is laid in the direction from West to East. The western point is the city of Jendrichowice (German border), the eastern point is the point on the Krakovets - Korcheva border. The largest cities that drivers pass through are: Rzeszow, Tarnow, Krakow, Korczewa.

Sections in the direction of Tarnow, Bochnia, Brzesko, Rzeszow are free. You can overcome the entire highway for 36 zlotys. If we take it by area, the most expensive will be Krakow - Katowice (20 zlotys) and Wroclaw - Gliwice (16.5). It should be taken into account that you can use the electronic payment system to pay for travel only at the last specified section. Read more about tariffs.

Poland toll road map 2020

If you look at a map of the country’s roads, you can see that they are all divided into 3 sections:

  • Those that are already in use (toll roads are marked in red, free roads are in blue).
  • Highways whose construction is ongoing (gray on the map).
  • Autobahns, the construction of which is only planned (thin gray line on the map).

You can view the current map by following this link.

Over the past 2 years, about 500 km of toll roads have appeared in 7 Polish voivodeships, the viaTOLL payment system is available, the number of toll roads for buses of any weight and the movement of trucks from 3.5 tons has increased. These innovations mainly relate to the A4 and A1 motorways and the S8 and S1 expressways.

Poland plans to introduce environmentally friendly zones. They will serve both as a means of improving the environment and as a method of promoting “green” cars. In such areas (mainly the central parts of the city) only cars fueled with natural gas will be allowed. The rest will have to pay an hourly travel fee of 0.6 euros or 6 euros per day. If the driver breaks the rule, he will have to pay a fine of 120 euros.

The A4 highway, which starts from the Ukrainian-Polish border (customs crossing Korczeva-Krakovets) and leads to Krakow, and further to the west of Poland through Katowice, Opole, Wroclaw before connecting with the German highway of the same name, was finally completed, and on July 20, 2016 at 10 :00 am its last unfinished section Jaroslaw-Rzeszow was officially opened to cars. The opening of the section and full operation of the autobahn was a pleasant surprise for users: there was no data about this anywhere, and according to preliminary information, full access to the A4 autobahn was supposed to be provided in August 2016. Now, significant traffic intensity is predicted on the newly opened section of the A4 autobahn Rzeszow-Jaroslaw , because on already built sections it breaks all records and expectations. The section of the A4 motorway from the border to Krakow will be free, this is explained by the fact that this section has only just been completed and it will take time for it to become a full-fledged motorway. In particular, for this it is necessary to develop the infrastructure; there are not yet enough MOPs (Miejsc Obsługi Podróżnych), hotels, gastronomic points and gas stations. They plan to improve the road and make it a full-fledged highway, and, therefore, receive money for using it, as early as 2018, but for now Ukrainians will be able to travel 250 kilometers to Krakow quickly and comfortably for free. Find information about prices for using the highway on its other sections in the sections below.

The last section of the A4 motorway Jaroslaw - Rzeszow is open

A 41.2-kilometer section of the A4 Jarosław-Rzeszow highway, built since 2010, was put into operation yesterday, July 20, 2016, and opened for free travel. A4 is the first high-standard autobahn in Poland to be completed, uniting it with two neighboring countries: Ukraine in the east and Germany in the west. The construction of the last section of the A4 highway Yaroslav-Rzeszow lasted 6 years, at first the highway was completely completed in 2012, but partly due to insufficient funding, and partly due to the characteristics of the soil, the contractor terminated the completion of the construction of the motorway on this section. In 2014, the executing company was changed, and after 2 years there should be a comfortable Polish autobahn, combining the Ukrainian border with the most important cities of Poland, the use of which in Krakow is free. True, in October 2016 the construction of service roads (their planned total length along the A4 highway is 78 kilometers) and reservoirs will still continue, however, despite this, the only obstacle for drivers will be the narrowing of the main road on a section of about 2 km to the Yaroslav- West ", which will be liquidated in August-September. The funds invested in the construction of the highway are PLN 985,000,000.

The construction of the A4 highway section Jarosław-Rzeszow is a titanic project in terms of logistics and technology. There were days when more than 1,000 people and more than 250 managers and supervisors worked on laying the roadway here. The scale of construction of these less than 42 kilometers of road is better shown in numbers. So, the section of the A4 autobahn Jaroslaw-Rzeszow is:

647 hectares of roadway, the size of 774 professional football fields.

986,000 m² of crushed stone for asphalt, an area more than twice the size of the Vatican.

8000000 cubic meters land for the main highway. This is equivalent to 14,000,000 tons of material. In order to transport this, you need to fill to the brim 560,000 dump trucks, the queue of which stretches for about 7,600 km.

624,000 tons of asphalt, which corresponds to the weight of 13.5 Titanic ships.

141,500 m of steel barriers and fenders, which is larger than the circumference of Malta, the smallest EU country.

The quality of Polish highways and expressways is noticeably different from our domestic ones, since in Poland old highways are immediately repaired and new highways are built. As of December 31, 2014, the length of roads in Poland is 3,157 km, including 1,552 km of highways and 1,605 km of expressways. In August 2015, the Polish government announced the National Road Construction Program 2023. Since that time, 54 tenders have been announced for the construction of expressways, the total length of which is 650 km. Also, 65 contracts were signed for almost 950 km of new roads. The value of the contracts is more than 26 billion zlotys.

Designation of highways in Poland

A1 - Autobahns are designated by the letter A and a number (for example A1)

S3 - Expressways are designated by the letter S and a number (for example S3)

Toll roads (autobahns) in Poland... how and where to pay

Since maintaining existing highways and building new ones is expensive, you have to pay tolls on some sections of highways in Poland. The cost of travel on these sections depends on the type motor vehicle as well as the distance traveled.

There are two options to pay for motorway tolls in Poland:

Payment is made at checkpoints, which are located directly at the entrance or exit from the toll section of the highway. Most of these checkpoints have operators who, after paying for the toll, raise the barrier. For the comfort of drivers, payment can be made in cash in three currencies (PLN, USD and EUR) or by bank card, but only at those checkpoints where there is an inscription - “Karty kredytowe”

In the second case, at the checkpoints of toll roads in Poland, there is no cashier, but only machines that, upon entering the toll section, issue a ticket and after receiving it, the barrier rises. You must keep your ticket until the end of the journey, since payment is made using it at the exit from the toll section of the road.

The tariff for travel on the Polish autobahn is calculated based on 0.20 PLN / km for vehicles with a total weight of less than 3.5 tons. Today, toll autobahns in Poland are only A1, A2 and A4. For cars and buses with a total weight of more than 3.5 tons, there are more toll sections and payment is provided in electronic system viaTOLL. On some autobahns in Poland, you will be asked to pay at the entrance and at the end of the toll section

Autobahns and expressways in Poland

The completed A4 highway will connect the two edges of Poland. This section passes through the districts of the cities of Rzeszow, Lancut and Perevorsk, and is the last unfinished one on the A4 highway. The autobahn begins at the border with Germany in Jewrychowice and passes at Zgorzelec through Legnice, Wroclaw, Opole, Gliwice, Kotowice, Krakow, Tarnow, Rzeszow to the customs crossing with Ukraine in the tavern. This autobahn plays a key role in transportation nationally and internationally, connecting to the autobahn that runs from Dresden, Germany. the main objective This is assistance in developing the country's economy and improving the quality of life of citizens by creating an efficient, safe and sustainable transport system in international traffic.

When will the A4 highway from Lviv to Krakow be opened?

The highway, upon completion of construction of this section, will connect almost all of Poland's most important industrial centers in the southern part of the country. total length The A4 highway in Poland will be 670 km long. The planned completion date of construction is August 2016. After the opening of the last section of the A4 highway, the distance from the Ukraine-Polish border to Krakow will be approximately 250 km and travel on this section of the road along the expressway will be tolled from 2018. Taking into account the average toll prices for highways in Poland, we can estimate that the A4 road to Krakow will cost approximately 50 zlotys. But there is always a choice - to pay for the autobahn and travel on the free roads of Poland.

The A4 Autobahn begins in Poland immediately after leaving the Krakowiec-Korczewa checkpoint. You can understand that there are long queues at the border by viewing the cameras online on our website. There are 3 web cameras installed at the Krakovets-Korchova checkpoint that broadcast the situation at the border in real time. One camera is installed on the territory of the Ukrainian customs, and it makes it possible to understand whether there is a queue and how long it is before entering the customs territory from Ukraine.

Two more online webcams are installed on the Ukraine-Polish border on the territory of Polish customs.

One of them shows a queue on neutral territory between Ukraine and Poland. If you watch the video broadcast from the border a little longer, you can draw some conclusions about the speed of sending cars at the present time. Also on this camera you can see the queue from Poland to Ukraine at the checkpoint already on the Ukrainian side of the customs.

Another camera broadcasts a real-time image from a section of the A4 motorway just before the entrance to customs from Poland. Currently on this camera you can see a queue in front of the checkpoint gate on the road on the left there is a queue for trucks, and on the A4 autobahn there is a queue for cars and buses. The queue on the autobahn is divided into 3 different passes - a queue for those who will apply for Tax Free, - a queue for those who travel along the green corridor - and a pass for buses.

Poland has one of the highest road accident statistics in Europe.

Poland–A2. Toll road As I promised, I divided the report on Polish roads into two parts. In the first part, I wrote about the old roads of Poland with their historical difficulties and their consequences. In this part of the report we will talk about the new toll road A2 (E30), thanks to which the impression of the road in Poland is changing. The condition of the road The roads can safely be called ideal. Their condition after winter is not satisfactory. The road is in perfect condition. It feels like the asphalt was laid quite recently. There are no cracks or rutting, and the markings look new. So, Poland with new roads.

Two lanes for traffic and one reserve in each direction. 370 kilometers of the toll road can be covered in 3.5 hours without much stress. There are no police or speed cameras on the road. Therefore, if your conscience allows, you can move quickly.

Entry to the toll road is carried out through toll collection points. At this point the road widens: from 2 lanes to 6-7. In front of the collection point there is a parking area with a free toilet. A separate toilet for people with disabilities is in order. Since the road is a toll road, it means that they did not skimp on its initial arrangement. All elements are thought out so that there are no financial losses when maintaining the road. The large number of anti-dazzle screens is striking. On different sections of the road they can be found in different lengths, depending on the terrain of the area. Large information boards have been installed. Dangerous sections of the road are illuminated. Along the road there are emergency telephone numbers for rescue services at a distance of about 10 km from each other. Water drainage from the road passes through external sewerage (yellow pipes) and then the wastewater is collected in local wastewater treatment plants (WTP). This allows you to maintain the coating and embankment in favorable temperature and humidity conditions and reduce Negative influence on ecology, but more on that separately. Ecology and habitat Throughout the entire road passing through the forest, there is a fence installed to keep out wild animals. various types, both simple mesh and decorative made of wood. The photo above shows a septic tank for collecting and purifying stormwater from oils and salt. Thus, it decreases negative impact from road traffic. Separate overpasses are provided for animals. Shrubs and trees grow on some of them to create a natural environment. It’s hard to imagine that these structures were made just for wild animals. Pedestrian crossings for people and cyclists look original. And it is impossible to find similar ones. Acoustic screens There is no need to comment here. A road is also architecture. The Poles know this better than anyone. Observe the combination of colors with adjacent objects and the variety of shapes of fences. Places of work (temporary) All road works encountered along the way are designed according to the same standard. At the entrance to the work area, appropriate warning signs and speed limit signs are installed. In places where temporary work is being carried out, the traffic lane is narrowed by portable signal “soldiers”. Each “soldier” has a signal yellow color. Temporary markings are not used in such places. Some signals are powered by solar panels, some by electrical network. The stands of the “soldiers” are loaded with sandbags. Roadside infrastructure On the toll road you will not find unplanned exits, dubious gas stations, roadside kebab shops or grandmothers selling potatoes. Every 30-50 km along the road, recreation centers for drivers are organized. They usually include a standard set of services. Gas station for cars and a separate gas station for trucks. Showers and toilets. Hotel with cafe and, of course, comfortable parking places for cars and trucks. Traffic participants A little bit of fly in the ointment. Traditional painting. One truck overtakes another. And since there are only two lanes, and fines for violating the speed limit are issued according to tachograph readings, the trucks are in no hurry to overtake each other. When overtaking, they drive with a difference of 3-5 km/h. And drivers of passenger cars have to slow down and “crawl” behind respectable trucks. And this affects safety, the average speed, and the nerves of drivers.

What kind of feeling is it to pay tolls on highways??? At first it is extremely unusual, incomprehensible and even a little...

Road trip to Italy. Part VI is the last. About toll roads, expenses, etc.

With this post I want to summarize the whole trip and talk about what was not included in the previous parts.

About roads
To travel to the territory of the European Union by car, it is mandatory to purchase insurance. It is commonly called a "green card" because of the color of the paper. The validity period may vary: 14 days, 1 month, 3 months and 1 year. The cost of insurance for 1 month is about 1,500 rubles. It is valid in all countries that are members of the European Union, that is, for example, it will not work for Belarus or Ukraine.

By the way, insurance won’t hurt people either! Although they don’t ask for it at the border, it’s still better to have it. You never know what can happen along the way...
Toll roads are great! The speed limit is approximately 130-140 km, excellent quality road surfaces, equipped rest areas, clean toilets, many cafes and gas stations, even observation decks in beautiful places.
In Poland, the system is simple: how many kilometers you travel, you pay so much. At the entrance through the terminal we receive such a ticket.
A checkpoint awaits us at the exit from the toll section. The main thing is not to stand in line with the sign TELEPAS. There is payment using some special cards or something like that, I don’t know for sure.
The remaining booths accept payment in cash or regular Visa, Mastercard, etc. Moreover, you can pay in both Polish zlotys and euros.
It seemed to me that toll roads in Poland are the best in terms of road infrastructure. Parking lots are every 10 km, all sites are equipped with free toilets, coffee machines, gazebos where you can have a snack, sometimes even with children's swings.
In the Czech Republic and Austria, motorway tolls are charged slightly differently. When approaching the borders of these countries, at gas stations you need to purchase vignettes - special stickers that need to be glued to the windshield. Where exactly is indicated on the stickers themselves. An unattached vignette is considered invalid.
A Czech vignette (pink in the photo) for a passenger car for 10 days costs 15 euros. Austrian (blue) – 8.70.
The presence of vignettes is checked by cameras and police patrols. No one ever stopped us, we were never seen by any police officers, we got the impression that the purchase of vignettes remains on the conscience of motorists, most likely this impression is deceptive. The fine for the absence of a vignette is from 120 euros.
There are certain sections of roads in Austria where additional tolls apply. Somewhere in the Innsbruck area we paid another 9 euros for such a plot. To be honest, we didn’t understand what was so special there...no tunnels, no bridges...but oh well.
In Italy, payment is made in the same way as in Poland: we take a ticket at the entrance, and then pay depending on how many kilometers we have traveled.
Gasoline in Italy was more expensive than in all the countries we passed through. The main feature of Italian gas stations is that they are almost all automatic. I filled the gas myself and paid through the machine. At first it scared us a little, you never know... we might not be able to figure out what the machine was writing to us, but when the tank was almost empty, all fears were discarded J) In fact, everything turned out to be very simple and understandable. First, you need to pay through the machine (using a card or cash) for the number of liters of fuel that is needed, and then fill the tank.
Our car collected some statistics for us.
In total, we spent about 470 euros on the trip. Perhaps it would be cheaper by plane, but we like the romance of the road J) Landscapes that can be observed from the car window, the opportunity to see how people live in non-tourist places in a particular country. This is only available when traveling independently.
About shopping
In general, prices in Rimini (in different parts Italy, I think, in different ways) are quite acceptable, we expected the worst. Of course, restaurants are not cheap. On average, a serving of pasta costs 12-15 euros, pizza from 5 to 9 euros. And in stores, products are at approximately the same prices as in Kaliningrad. Since we had an apartment with an equipped kitchen, we mostly ate ourselves.
We were very pleased with the huge selection of wine in supermarkets; prices start from 1.5 euros per bottle. Favorite prosciutto 2.5-3 euros per 100 grams. Strawberries for 4 euros per 1 kg. What could be better than prosciutto, cheese and a bottle of red wine? What if you sit on the balcony overlooking the sea? Why do we need a restaurant at all J)
We bought food mainly at Lidl, our favorite supermarket in Poland, and at Conad. Conad is located in the large Le Befane shopping center, which has a bunch of other shops. Clothes and shoes for every taste and budget. It is located far from the coast, but getting to it is easy. By bus, bicycle...by car, of course, the most convenient, parking is free 
Another big one shopping mall Ronanga Shopping Valley is located somewhere in the middle between Rimini and Ravenna, very large...housewares, clothes, furniture, shoes...there is also a large cinema.
In general, shopping was not our goal, so I can’t say anything about the numerous outlets, clothing and shoe factories that large quantities located on the outskirts of Rimini and San Marino. But I still have some addresses, if anyone needs it, please contact me.
To sum up the whole trip, I can say that it was a wonderful vacation! Italy met all my expectations. I hope that in the near future we will be able to visit it again, visit already familiar places and visit new ones.

Toll roads in Poland - Assistant in the Czech Republic

Nov 9, 2014 - Toll roads in Poland, prices and payment rules... Payment is made at the entrance to the toll road and...

Toll roads in Poland account for approximately half the length of all motorways. Considering that the total length of Polish roads is more than 3,100 km, tolls are charged for using about 1,500 km. Let's consider all the nuances associated with toll roads.

Poland – a bridge between the CIS and Western Europe

The geographical location of Poland contributes to the fact that this country is a connecting corridor between the CIS countries and Western Europe. A huge number of passenger and freight transport travels on Polish roads, traveling from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus to countries Western Europe and back. Our fellow citizens go to European countries to work, vacation, and study. We can say that Poland is a kind of bridge connecting Russia, Belarus and Ukraine with the rest of Europe.

Today, for Russian motorists, due to the complex relationship between Russia and Ukraine, Poland is the only corridor to Europe through which there should be no problems. Huge freight traffic from Asia to Europe also moves through the Republic of Poland. You can also get from the Baltic states to European countries via Polish highways.

For many of our compatriots traveling to Europe for the first time, a real discovery is the excellent quality of most Polish roads. The difference in the quality of the road surface is felt immediately after crossing the border. No expense is spared in repairing and maintaining highways in Poland. In addition, the government is going to allocate more than 26 billion zlotys for the construction of new roads. These costs are partially covered by toll road charges. Below is a road map of Poland. The letter A indicates highways.

In what areas do I have to pay?

On this moment Polish roads are divided into toll and free. However, in the future, all highways in this country should become toll roads. The amount of payment for travel on some highways depends on the category of the vehicle, as well as on the distance traveled. Thus, toll roads for passenger cars weighing less than 3.5 tons are highways A1, A2 and A4 (and not all of their sections, but only the busiest ones, the road surface of which wears out faster). Toll areas for vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tons are indicated on the following map:

Those roads that are under construction are still free. When they are put into operation, you will have to pay for travel on them. In the meantime, tolls for travel on them are charged according to the GDDKiA system. That is, the fare is determined by the Ministry of Infrastructure. Currently it is 10 groschen per kilometer for cars and 5 groschen per kilometer for motorcycles.

Additional information: for vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tons that travel on toll sections managed by GDDKiA, toll payment is made using the viaTOLL system. To do this, a special electronic device must be installed on the vehicle, with the help of which payment is collected.

There are two ways to pay for roads in Poland:

  1. In the first case, payment is made at checkpoints located at the starting and ending points of the toll section of the road. At the checkpoint, payment is accepted by the operator, who then opens the barrier. You can pay in cash or by bank card. (Important! Payment by bank card is accepted if the checkpoint has the inscription “Karty kreditowe”. When paying in cash, change is issued in zlotys, regardless of what currency you pay in). You can pay in zlotys, euros or dollars.
  2. In the second case, at the checkpoint upon entering the toll section, the driver is issued a ticket. Moreover, this ticket is issued by a machine, not by an operator. The ticket must be kept until the end of the toll section. You must pay upon leaving this site.

Infrastructure of Polish roads and costs of travel on individual sections of motorways

Toll highways are more convenient. Along the entire length of these roads there are gas stations (BP, Shell, OMV, Orlen, etc.), cafes, fast food restaurants (McDonald's, Kfc, Burger King), various shops, recreational areas, European level hotels, recreational facilities (campings, camper service station). In terms of the quality of the road surface, Poland's toll highways are in no way inferior to Western European ones.

Consider the cost of travel on highways.

A1 Torun – Gdansk

The length of this route is 152 km. There are 10 payment points along its entire length. Drivers of cars and motorcycles will have to pay 30 zlotys here. For passenger cars with a trailer, the fare is PLN 71. You can pay in cash or by bank card. Important! When paying in US dollars, only banknotes with a denomination of $100 or less are accepted.

A2 Strykow – Konin – Poznań – Świecko

The A2 motorway is divided into two sections: Strykov – Konin and Konin – Świecko. The length of the first section is 99 km, the second – 255 km. The cost of travel on the Strykow – Konin highway for motorists is 9.9 zlotys per kilometer, for motorcyclists – 5 zlotys/km. When driving through the second section, drivers of cars and motorcycles must pay 72 zlotys.

The fee per kilometer for driving on the A2 highway varies. For example, on the section Rzepin - Nowy Tomysl it is 2.8 zlotys, on the section Nowy Tomysl - Konin - 5.1 zlotys. The section between Želin and Świecko is free.

A4 Krakow – Katowice – Gliwice – Wroclaw

The A4 highway also consists of two sections: Krakow - Katowice and Gliwice - Wroclaw. The length of the first is 62 km, the second – 162 km. When traveling from Krakow to Katowice, car drivers will have to pay 20 zlotys, and motorcyclists – 10 zlotys. The cost of travel on the Gliwice – Wroclaw section for cars is 16.2 zlotys, for motorcycles – 8.1 zlotys.

Note! The “Pobor oplat” sign warns that there will be a toll section ahead.
