Cat

The cat was domesticated approximately 9.5 centuries ago in the Middle East. In ancient Egypt, the cat was identified with Bastet, the goddess of sunlight and moonlight. In the Middle Ages, cats were less fortunate. They were recognized as accomplices of Satan and terrible and cruel rituals were performed on them. However, all this mysticism and horror are in the past, and now the cat is the most famous pet. The playful disposition, the grace of movements inherent in all felines, the undeniable beauty and the highly developed intellect make the cat an ideal human companion.

To completely subjugate a cat, as, for example, or, a person failed. Some scientists are generally inclined to assume that the cat simply found the most acceptable habitat next to people.

Cat breeds.

However, as the cat was domesticated, people began to engage in its selection. Over the millennia, numerous breeds of cats have arisen, grouped in turn into categories: longhair and Persian, semi-longhair, shorthair, and Siamese-Oriental Shorthair. The latter include hairless cats, such as the Sphynx or Bambino. Among the most popular breeds among cat lovers are the Angora and Siamese. The Angora is distinguished by long fluffy white hair and blue eyes. The color of the body of the Siamese Shorthair cat is light brown, paws, head and tail are black. Both breeds are very beautiful.

Among the short-haired ones, one can also note the Russian blue cat, which was bred by Empress Catherine II.

Cat breeds are also divided into American, Oriental, British and European.

A lot of “cat lovers” often pick up simple street and completely non-purebred cats, because it’s quite difficult to resist their peculiar charm.

The fluffy, purring, fawning quadruped is a real predator, despite its cute and cute appearance. Under normal conditions, cats feed on small birds, especially courageous representatives of the cat family even attack. This animal hunts in a typical way for all felines: in case of a successful attack, it grabs prey by the neck and bites between the vertebrae, gnawing through the nerve. Pets, on the other hand, have undoubted advantages: not to mention milk and fish, there are even specialized cat foods. However, the owner of the animal needs to keep in mind that the normal weight of most cat breeds ranges from 2.5 to 6.5 kg. More weight clearly indicates obesity.

Reproduction of cats.

The cat is a solitary animal. Cats constantly mark their territory and fight viciously with intruders who ignore marks and warning poses. Tags also serve to attract a partner during the breeding season. Cats are ready for procreation already at the age of eight months, cats need to grow up to 9-11 months. There are usually two periods when individuals are ready to mate: in January-February and in June-July: it is then that cats begin estrus. Pregnancy of cats lasts about three months, 3-5 kittens are born, although sometimes there are “heroine mothers” who give birth to 7-9 cubs. Born blind and helpless, after a couple of weeks the babies open their eyes, and at the age of a month they begin to lead a fairly active life.
