Essay on "Works of Mercy Today"

“True mercy is the desire

Benefit other people

not thinking about the reward"

Helen Keller

"Mercy"? We hear the word "mercy" very often from adults. But do we think about what it really means? Kindness? Politeness? I think it's not all that. It contains the broadest and noblest meaning. This is most likely a quality that lives in the soul of every compassionate person.

Mercy is caring. The desire to sympathize, empathize, help people in trouble.Sometimes even feel pain for another person, share it with him and to some extent (according to our capabilities) help him get rid of it.

Mercy is the ability to forgive. A merciful person does not know the word "revenge". By doing evil, we only increase the evil that exists in the world. A merciful person tries to be kind and sympathetic to every person.

As Christians who come to us from Krasnoyarsk say: “Our Lord is merciful, and we should be the same. He forgives everyone who repents, realizing that a person is aware of his sin and asks for deliverance from sin and torment. God, letting us go bad, shows love and kindness towards people of incredible power. And each of us should be at least a little like our Great Creator. After all, the person who knows how to forgive others the bad, does not hold evil and resentment - he is happy. There is no blackness in his soul, he is pure. He is merciful."

Unfortunately, in the world we live in, mercy is becoming rarer and rarer. The reason for this is the people themselves, who have become greedy, cruel and greedy. In everything they seek only profit for themselves and forget about what is the true purpose of mercy.

It seems to me that everything starts from childhood, when the child absorbs the concepts of what is good and what is bad. I believe that if a child is not taught from childhood to share something with others, not to offend animals, to respect elders only in words, this will not give any positive results. Then in the future this will lead to the fact that, having already matured, the child will not even have a “sprout” of mercy in his soul. It all depends on the adults who communicate with us. Words alone are not enough, it seems to me that it is important to show us by his example how much he knows how to forgive, love, and compassion.

There are no examples of mercy! One of the most famous and respected women of the last century is Mother Teresa. She was a symbol of mercy, kindness, compassion in the cruel twentieth century, as we were told in history lessons. Her devotion to the idea of serving the world inspired and still inspires people around the world. Such examples let us remember that kindness exists in human hearts.

Even in modern times, it does not leave our horizons. You can remember how all the inhabitants of our country collected money for the construction of houses for people affected by the flood in the Amur Region. And one pensioner, a resident of Magadan, knitted three hundred pairs of socks! This is what our teachers told us. Personally, I respect such people. By these actions, one can judge that mercy has not disappeared, it exists!

Such people in our time are called "Man with a capital letter"!

“…Mercy… is not…excessive…”

I believe that giving a hand to a friend in a difficult moment, helping grandmothers carry heavy bags to their homes, saving a kitten that climbed a tree, sharing someone's grief and turning one's shoulder in time - how many-sided is mercy and there is nothing better and more necessary than it.

But the most important thing is not to look away, like you don’t see, and not to be indifferent to someone else’s grief. If this is all, then there will be a place for mercy.

Today, we, the pupils of the orphanage of the Dreamers group, and I, among other things, are representatives of the volunteer movement. We help the elderly, lonely people, war veterans. Every time I help these people, I feel satisfaction and sincere joy in my soul. Therefore, I want to return to them again and again.

Currently, we can often meet many homeless and abandoned animals. When I see them in my soul, I have an irresistible desire to help them, which, unfortunately, I still cannot realize. Therefore, in the future, I plan to become a successful person in order to fulfill my dream.

It is very difficult to be merciful to all people in our time. But we must try to change our inner world for the better. I think that if we are patient with other people's actions, we will gradually improve their attitude towards themselves. People will understand that you do not wish them harm and will gradually fall in love with you.

At the end of my essay, I urge everyone to be responsive and merciful to each other. Remember one of the main commandments of God: "... as you want people to do to you, so do you to them ...".

When a person is hurt...

Someone has to caress him

Someone just needs to be there

To kiss on the top of your head.

When a person is sick...

And the whole world in half

Someone must be besides God,

To give my soul.

When a person is lost...

And don't know what to do

Someone has to be wiser

Advise, but not teach.

When a person is scared...

Under the pillow he is with his head,

Someone nearby gives the go-ahead:

"Don't be afraid, I'm with you"

When a person is upset...

Someone has to be around...
